There is a difference between Cashflow and Monopoly: it's unequal at a beginning of Cashflow games.
In Monopoly, everyone begins equal. Everyone owns the same amount of start-up money and starts from scratch. In Cashflow, however, players starts from different status. There are doctors and janitors in one game.
But the opportunities in a game is equal. Everyone may get opportunities they pick up. Starting in inequality and playing in equality is much closer to the reality.
Additionally, inequality includes unequal responsibilities and difficulties.
Doctors have nice houses, nice cars, and nice education, which are much better than janitors. In the real life, janitors may complain:
"Why do those doctors live better? eat better? drive better cars? and have better education than I do?"
In a Cashflow game, however, janitors may be glad:
"Aha! now you doctors can't jump out of the rat race easily with so much expenses."
Simple life with simple expenses is one of the reasons to be rich. If I have a doctor's income and a janitor or a teacher's expenses, I would be the first one jumping out of the rat race in a game.
But, what if I have a janitor's income and a doctor's expenses?
